Dental bridges are most commonly used to fill a gap, caused by having a tooth extracted, or knocked out in an accident. Not only is it important to close up the space for cosmetic reasons, but Dr. Aunon and Dr. Cruz have clinical reasons for filling the space as well: leaving the gap can place additional strain on the teeth on either side. Your “bite” can also be affected, with the teeth on either side of the gap possibly leaning together into the space, thus altering the way the upper and lower teeth meet; which can cause even further problems in the future.
Once the teeth have been prepared, your dentist will take an “impression” of your teeth and take a measurement of how you bite together. Dr. Aunon and Dr. Cruz will also record the shade of the adjacent teeth so that the bridge is an exact match. Often, our dentists will make you a temporary bridge so that you don’t have a large gap while you are waiting for the new bridge to be fitted.
Dr. Aunon believes in having the most up to date technology that dentistry has to offer to greatly reduce and ultimately eliminate any fear of going to the dentist for the adult, teen, and especially the child. With the help of his highly qualified and caring staff, he promises the most comprehensive dental care.
